This is a visitor tower built just over the municipal border near a unique junction of canals. Three canals come together at this point. At the top of the tower you have a great view of the Kempense Meren lakes, which were formed in the past century as a result of sand mining. After the white sand had been mined, the lakes were transformed into recreational lakes or nature reserves. The size of the natural area of De Maat is immediately apparent. On a clear day it is possible to see for miles. It is sometimes possible to see the slag heaps of Beringen. Thanks to the web camera, less mobile visitors are also able to enjoy the fabulous views from the top of the tower.
