Part of the current Gompels Broek has been known for centuries under the name ‘Postelaars’, also formerly called ‘Postels Broek’. The area ‘Postelaars’ can serve as an example for the large reclamations that have taken place since the Middle Ages. The Postelse abbey becomes the owner of the area, which explains the name ‘Postelaars’.
