Markt
Vous vous trouvez sur le Markt (marché). En 1365, Mol a reçu une autorisation de marché et ce, pour un marché hebdomadaire le mardi et deux marchés annuels. Grâce à sa nouvelle fonction commerciale, cette place, qui jusqu'alors s'appelait Vrijheid (liberté) ou Plaetse (place), a été rebaptisée Marktplein. (place du marché) Il s'agissait alors du centre névralgique de Mol.

C'est l'église qui attire le plus l'attention. L'église Sint-Pieter en Pauwel a été construite au 15e siècle. L'ancienne maison communale ou mairie se trouve juste devant l'église. La maison communale a été construite en 1805, à partir d'un plan de 1804, selon le modèle classique français. La maison communale se trouve à un endroit symbolique juste devant l'église : selon la législation napoléonienne, l'état passait littéralement avant l'église. À partir de cette époque, c'est l'état que les habitants devaient informer en premier lieu d'une naissance, d'un mariage ou d'un décès et seulement ensuite, le curé. En bas, au 19e siècle, il y avait la pesée du beurre pour le marché hebdomadaire du mardi ; on y pesait également la viande, la laine et d'autres marchandises. Les annonces officielles étaient rendues publiques le dimanche à 11 heures devant la maison communale et affichées ensuite sur la porte. C'est à cet endroit que se trouve aujourd'hui l'office du tourisme.

Markt
You are now at De Markt (the market). In 1365, Mol was awarded the right to hold a market – a weekly market every Tuesday and two annual markets. This square, which had been referred to as the Vrijheid (freedom) or Plaetse (place) up to that point, then became the market square because of its new commercial purpose. It thus also became the nerve centre of Mol.

The most eye-catching feature is the church. The Saint Peter and Paul church was built in the 15th century. The former town hall is located immediately in front of it. Based on a plan dating from 1804, the town hall was constructed in 1805 with classic French architecture. The town hall occupies a symbolic position, immediately in front of the church: according to Napoleonic law, the government literally came before the church. From that moment, residents had to first inform the government about births, marriages and deaths and could only inform the vicar afterwards. In the 19th century, there was a set of butter scales downstairs, although meat, wool and other merchandise was also weighed. Official notices were announced on Sunday at 11 o’clock in front of the town hall and then hung on the door. The building now houses the tourist office.

I cannot look for the village
that I once knew, and cannot be

What I miss are the playing children, the

streets, who I left behind unsuspectingly
over the years.

Markt

Sie befinden sich jetzt auf dem Markt. Im Jahr 1365 erhielt Mol das Recht, Märkte zu veranstalten: einen Wochenmarkt am Dienstag und zwei Jahrmärkte. Dieser Platz, der bis zur damaligen Zeit ‚Vrijheid’ bzw. ‚Plaetse’ hieß, erhielt durch seine neue Handelsfunktion den Status als Marktplatz. Er war auch das pulsierende Herz von Mol.

Die Kirche sticht am meisten hervor. Die Sint-Pieter en Pauwelkerk wurde im 15. Jahrhundert gebaut. Gleich vor der Kirche sehen Sie das ehemalige Gemeindehaus. Es wurde 1805 nach einem Plan aus dem Jahr 1804 gemäß dem klassischen französischen Modell gebaut. Das Gemeindehaus steht auf einem symbolischen Platz direkt vor der Kirche: Der napoleonischen Gesetzgebung zufolge hatte der Staat auch buchstäblich Vorrang vor der Kirche. Von dieser Zeit ab mussten die Einwohner bei Geburten, Eheschließungen und Todesfällen zuerst den Staat benachrichtigen und danach erst den Pfarrer. Unten stand im 19. Jahrhundert die Butterwaage für den wöchentlich stattfindenden Dienstagsmarkt, dort wurden auch Fleisch, Wolle oder andere Handelswaren gewogen. Offizielle Mitteilungen wurden sonntags um 11 Uhr vor dem Gemeindehaus verkündet und an der Tür angeschlagen. Jetzt ist hier das Fremdenverkehrsbüro untergebracht.

Dieses Dorf
Ich kann das Dorf nicht suchen,
das ich einst gekannt,
das Schiff nicht sein, das nach langer Reise
Kurs auf sein Mutterland nimmt.
Auf versteinerte Bilder kann ich kein Heimweh projizieren,
keine Freude erleben an einer Vergangenheit,
die, gänzlich unerwartet, in Worten oder Bildern
plötzlich wieder auflebt.
Ich habe nie das Dorf verlassen,
keine Straßen, keine Plätze zurückgelassen.
Kein Haus ist mir fremd geworden.
Was ich vermisse, sind das spielende Kind,
der sehnsuchtsvolle Jugendliche, der durch die Straßen lief,
und den ich in jenen Jahren nichts vermutend zurückließ.
